Belarus has approved a program for developing state standards in the field of packaging recycling

The document was developed in order to implement the instructions of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the Government on waste management and the use of secondary material resources.

The program is aimed at establishing requirements for packaging that ensure the possibility of its recycling after the loss of consumer properties.

Thus, it is envisaged to develop 22 state standards harmonized with international and regional (European) ones. They will establish requirements for determining the ability to fully aerobic biodegradation of plastic materials, determining the degree of their decomposition, reusing packaging material, principles of analyzing microplastics present in the environment, assessing the maximum aerobic biodegradation of packaging materials, as well as paper bags for collecting municipal waste.

The implementation of the program is aimed at reducing waste that is not suitable for recycling and, as a result, reducing environmental pollution.
