On September 17, our country celebrates National Unity Day
This holiday is dedicated to one of the most important events in Belarusian history - the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR in 1939. Approved back in 1939 as the "day of liberation of the workers of Western Belarus from the Polish lords", it was last celebrated at the all-Union level in 1949. Considerations of political expediency came to the fore - territorial issues should not overshadow the friendly relations between the USSR and Poland within a single socialist bloc. By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated June 7, 2021 No. 206, a national holiday was established in our country - National Unity Day, which is celebrated annually on September 17.
