On February 19, a career guidance excursion was held at the Polotsk CSMS

During the excursion, the students discovered:

• a new area of ​​professional activity,
• learned about the history of standardization and metrology,
• about the qualifications and ways of obtaining professional education for employees,
• got acquainted with the work of the center's departments,
• tried to perform some operations under the guidance of specialists.

When visiting the testing department of the Polotsk Central Standardization and Metrology Center, the students were shown how product quality and safety tests are conducted, laboratory equipment and glassware are used to detect pathogenic bacteria. The children took part in the organoleptic analysis of food products.

A visit to the laboratories of the enterprise's metrological service was no less interesting and memorable. Here, the students got an idea of ​​the types of work carried out and the equipment used. Laboratories for the verification of linear-angular, heat engineering, heat physical, mechanical, physical and chemical measuring instruments were demonstrated.

The most interesting for children were practical events: participation in the verification of pressure gauges, devices for determining alcohol vapors in exhaled air, multimeters, current transformers, electricity meters, calipers, micrometers.

As part of the participation of the Polotsk CSMS in the metrological educational cluster, children were informed about specialized education at the Vitebsk State Technological University (VSTU).
As a memorable souvenir, all participants of the excursion were presented with reflectors with the logo of the Polotsk CSMS. These bright accessories will not only remind the children of visiting the center, but will also help them be more visible on the street, which is especially important for their safety.
