On October 23, employees of the Polotsk Center for Social and Medical Studies visited the memorial complex "Urochische Peski"
As part of the action plan for holding the Year of Quality in 2024, implementing the concept of developing the national cultural space in all spheres of society for 2024-2026, on October 23, employees of the Polotsk Center for Social and Cultural Affairs visited the memorial complex "Urochische Peski".
The Peski tract is a huge mass grave. It contains the remains of tens of thousands of prisoners of war and civilians tortured and killed by the Nazis. The memorial complex has become a symbol of the memory of the victims of the war.
The memorial is located on the territory of the former transit camp for prisoners of war "Dulag-125", which was called the "Polotsk Golgotha". All of them, nameless, are buried in mass graves on this field.
Based on the results of many years of research, the book "Urochische Peski - the territory of death, 1941-1944" was published.
During the visit to the memorial, the tourists laid flowers and honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence.
