The Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus

The Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus is a public holiday celebrated annually in the country on March 15, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of March 26, 1998. No. 157.
The Constitution of 1994 with amendments and additions adopted at the republican referenda on November 24, 1996, October 17, 2004 and February 27, 2022 is in force in the Republic of Belarus. It was adopted on March 15, 1994 at the 13th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus of the 12th convocation and is the first in the history of a sovereign republic and the fifth Constitution of Belarus adopted after the October Revolution of 1917.
The current Constitution of the Republic of Belarus of 1994 is the main, fundamental law of the country, which has the highest legal force and establishes the fundamental principles and norms of legal regulation of the most important social relations. It defines the state structure, establishes the principles of the electoral system, regulates the formation of government bodies, and fixes the rights and obligations of citizens.
