The Week of Parental Love is held in Belarus from October 14 to 21

In 2023, the Week of Parental Love is being held in Belarus for the second time, which began on October 14 on Mother’s Day and will end on October 21 on Father’s Day, combining these two dates.

The importance of family and parents for Belarusians is confirmed by the fact that the decrees of the head of state established four holidays related to the family: Family Day (May 15), Children's Day (June 1), Mother's Day (October 14) and Father's Day (October 21). ). And if we consider the family not only as mother, father and children, but also more broadly, taking into account older generations, then the Day of the Elderly (October 1) is also a family holiday.

In the value system of Belarusians, the family occupies a leading position. The thesis “Strong family – strong state” is traditionally one of the strategic foundations that consolidate our society.

A multifaceted and comprehensive state system of family support has been formed and is being implemented in the country. The infrastructure of children's educational and medical institutions is constantly developing, assistance is provided in solving housing issues, and opportunities for combining work and family responsibilities of parents, cultural development and family recreation are expanding. A separate significant package of social support is provided to families with many children. In general, the state invests significant resources in all areas vital for families. More than 3% of the country's GDP is spent annually on these purposes.

As part of the celebration of the Week of Parental Love, a republican plan of events has been approved, which is designed to unite Belarusian society on the ideas of love and respect for parents, to help increase the authority of motherhood and fatherhood, the prestige of the family and family values.

Thus, from October 12 to 21, press events are planned to be held on the topic of motherhood and childhood, responsible fatherhood, and strengthening the institution of family. On the same dates, direct telephone lines on issues of state support for families with children and awareness-raising events will be held.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is organizing a traveling photo exhibition “Dads”, dedicated to fathers of different professions. It was first presented in Minsk on October 12, and then until Family Day (until May 15, 2024) it will visit all regions of our country.

From October 16 to 21, throughout the country, government officials, married couples who have lived from one year to 70 or more years together, as well as young people will meet at dialogue platforms “Partnership between the state and the family in the interests of different generations.”

On October 14 and 21, a prayer service will be held in churches across the country for the health of all mothers and for the health of all fathers.

This year the Ministry of Communications’ campaign “Let’s congratulate mom and dad by mail!” will also continue. Belposhta branches provide the opportunity to send free greeting cards to moms and dads on October 11 and 18.

Gosstandart organizations also join thematic events organized as part of the Week of Parental Love.
