October 14 - Standardization Day in the Republic of Belarus and World Standardization Day

Every year on October 14, the world scientific and technical community celebrates World Standardization Day.

In the Republic of Belarus, since 2000, this day has been a professional holiday - Standardization Day, emphasizing the strategic value of this activity for the state, economy and society, recognizing the contribution of thousands of specialists to its development.

Every year, the holiday around the world is held under a certain motto, determined by the heads of leading international standardization organizations (IEC, ISO and ITU).

In 2023, it continues the theme started in 2021: “A shared vision for a better world. Standards for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, while focusing on the role of standards in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.”

On Standardization Day and World Standardization Day, organizations of the Gosstandart system in all regions of the country will hold events of various formats.

The key event will be the conference, which will take place on October 12, 2023 at BelGISS. Its theme is “Through standardization - to mutual understanding and creation.”

Participants will consider the results and prospects for the development of standardization in Belarus and the EAEU, cooperation in this area with the Russian Federation. A number of presentations will be devoted to the role of standards to ensure product quality, meet the needs of the economy and consumers, as well as the introduction of scientific developments to expand the export capabilities of domestic industry.

The conference will include an award ceremony for the winners of the “Best Standardization Specialist” competition - 2023, the purpose of which is to increase the authority of standardization specialists and organizations, disseminate best practices, and identify the most professional standardization specialists. Their work helps improve the quality and competitiveness of products, works, services, organizations in the domestic and foreign markets.

The main goal of all ongoing events is to draw attention to activities in the field of technical regulation and standardization, as well as to reflect the role of standards in solving issues relevant to the economy and society.
